Low-Key Revelstoke Elopement

We had the joy of being witnesses for our best friends during their short but sweet June wedding ceremony along the bank of the Columbia River. Cam and Sara had unique plans for their wedding celebration - instead of a big party, they wanted to be able to spend quality time with their loved ones. First they rented a houseboat in Sicamous for a weekend and invited all of their BC friends to join for some fun in the sun. Then they spent a couple weeks at Sara’s family cottage in Ontario where their different family and friend groups cycled through for a few days at a time. But before all of that, they wanted a simple ceremony to legally become husband and wife. While you can’t get married at the courthouse or city hall in Revelstoke, you can hire a marriage commissioner and have a legal ceremony at the location of your choosing. So Sara and Cam called up Judy and picked a Wednesday in June to meet at a cute park overlooking the river. And when it was forecasted for rain, they called her once more to moved the ceremony back a day. As the only guests, we were more than happy to accommodate the weather! We ended up with wildfire smoke settling in the valley following Wednesday’s rain, but it made for some gorgeous lighting.
