A once in a lifetime adventure for a once in a lifetime love.

Let me paint a picture__

  • As the rising sun warms your skin, the two of you head out for a walk through the forest. You pick blueberries, listen to the songbirds, and spot signs of a bear who visited the trail not long before you. Your partner tugs at your arm, pointing to a dark figure in a meadow through an opening in the trees. A moose raises its head to acknowledge your presence. You watch one another in a silent agreement that neither will come any closer. As it turns away, so do you, returning to your weekend home.

Inside, your cottage has been transformed into a private spa for two. You greet your practitioners and take your places on the massage tables. The peaceful morning continues as any tightness your body has been holding onto melts away. Whatever you left at home can stay there, you’re here now.

After your massage and a refreshing shower, you notice the lunch that had been dropped off for you earlier. It includes sandwiches made with fresh sourdough and filled with local veggies. Perfectly soft and crunchy at the same time. There’s a bottle of champagne, too, but you choose to save it for later.

You spend the afternoon listening to your favourite playlist and getting ready together. There’s no timeline or rush. No mother-in-law telling you the flowers are all wrong or member of the bridal party who can’t be located. It’s just you and your love, captivated by one another.

When the time comes, you drive down the highway to the helicopter hangar. You meet your pilot Josh, photographer Katee, and videographer Bryce. You are shown around the helicopter - it’s your first time being this close to one - and encourage your partner to sit up front next to the pilot.

As the engine starts up you notice butterflies in your stomach. Not because you're nervous, but in anticipation for what’s to come. You begin to rise up over the canopy of the forest and are surrounded by mountains in every direction. Josh weaves his way through the valleys, gaining altitude as you fly. Behind every corner are new peaks, glaciers, and alpine lakes to take in.

You round one last corner and hear “that’s the spot” in your headphones. You look down at a wide plateau half covered by a crystal clear lake fed from a waterfall. You follow the water up to a glacier and then the mountain’s peak and pinch yourself to make sure this is real.

The helicopter touches down and you climb out into the alpine. Overcome with emotion, you pull your soon to be spouse in for a kiss. Neither of you can land on where to look, it’s all too beautiful. You start to explore knowing there’s no need to pose for photos - Katee and Bryce are documenting it all. Your partner squeezes your hand and you lock eyes, coming close for an embrace. This truly is beyond your wildest dreams.

You decide on the perfect location next to the lake to say your vows. You take turns reading them to one another, tears building slowly, and then flowing just like the waterfall above. You exchange rings without need for an officiant telling you what they signify - you already know. You can feel their power in this moment.

Katee asks you each one question. Do you take your partner to be your lawful wedded spouse, to cherish, honour, and love, from this day forward? You do. And just like that, you’re pronounced married. You kiss like it’s both your first and your last, though you know it is neither.

You watch your spouse - ooh, that word feels new - sign their name on the marriage license and realize it’s for real. Here, in the middle of the mountains, you are married. Josh and Bryce sign as witnesses and Katee, an ordained minister, makes it official with her signature.

As everyone celebrates, you grab the bubbly you set aside earlier. You shake it up and pop the cork together, drinking straight from the bottle. Cheers and hollers echo as you get an idea. You whisper to your spouse and they nod knowingly. You set down the bottle, grab their hand, and run straight towards the ice cold lake, stripping down to your underwear as you go.

Your laughter pauses for a moment as the frigid water takes your breath away. You scream and splash and although your body is numb, you’re filled with warmth. You’re married to your love and swimming together on top of a mountain.

As you climb out of the water and lay out on the warm rocks, Katee tosses you each a towel - she’s always prepared for anything. You dry off and redress, smiling from ear to ear. Heading back to the helicopter you pull your partner in for one last kiss in this place that will forever be yours.

After a pit stop at your cabin for dry clothes - and maybe to celebrate a little more, just the two of you - you drive downtown. Listening to live music, walking hand in hand, you wonder if the people you’re passing by can see it in your eyes. That you just married your best friend and are the luckiest person in the world.

You enjoy a romantic dinner of all of your favourite flavours. Your server asks if you’re celebrating anything special and you raise an eyebrow at your partner before exclaiming that you just got married. They gush over every detail and you feel like you’re still up there, on top of the world, with no plans of ever coming down.

As you wake in the morning, you’re flooded with memories of the previous day. You wonder if it was all just a dream, but the new ring on your finger confirms the truth.
